Oread Friends Meeting joyfully welcomes children. Children are welcome to participate in meeting for worship and can remain in meeting as long as they and their parents are comfortable.
On the second and fourth First Days (Sundays) of each month, we offer First Day School (religious instruction and activities). At First Day School , instructors present youth with a query about a topic which traditional Quaker testimony (Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship) is connected to and children work with that query throughout their time together. A sample First Day School syllabus can be found here. Typically, First Day School is geared towards children ages 5-12.
On all First Days (Sundays), we offer supervised childcare with a brief period of guided activity.
Children typically enter the meeting for worship with caregivers during the last 10 minutes of meeting.
